Mr. Myogi Demkiw

Mr. Myogi is a happy-go-lucky 6-month-old Boston Terrier. Shortly after adoption he developed soft stool on occasion but not consistently. Over the next three months the soft stools and diarrhea became more frequent and he was brought to the clinic for consultation. Fecal floatation demonstrated numerous small motile organisms and a positive Giardia SNAP test confirmed a diagnosis of Giardia.

Giardia; commonly known as beaver fever, is a protozoa parasite infection to both pets and humans all over the world. It affects normal absorption from the intestine and causes diarrhea and occasionally vomiting. Fortunately diagnosis and appropriate treatment of the parasite is usually very effective.
